Visit St.
Marys and take a plunge
in the Quarry – a
former limestone quarry that has been made into Canada's
largest outdoor freshwater swimming pool. At Pyramid
Recreation Centre, you can make a splash in the wheelchair
accessible four-lane, 25-metre saltwater pool designed to provide
a fun,
interactive environment for family entertainment. An outdoor
children’s splash pad, on-deck
dry sauna, a seven-person whirlpool and a shallow leisure pool
rounds
out the indoor aquatics experience. The Mill
Pond in Mitchell is
a wonderful place to canoe or kayak. Mitchell’s Lions
Park, situated along the Thames River, features
a Splash Pad for the children
to cool off and have some fun! Free for the whole family. In Stratford,
take a paddle-boat or canoe for a relaxing cruise along the
Avon River, or take the kids to the Lions
Pool for
some splashy summer fun. The Perth
East Recreation Complex also
boasts a large arena, community centre, outdoor pool, new playground
equipment, and
a walking trail.

West Perth’s Thames
Nature Trail and Wetlands is
well known among birders and outdoor enthusiasts. The trails
surrounding the wetlands cells are readily accessible and
provide birders the opportunity to see a great variety of
ducks, shorebirds,
herons, raptors and other species.
The Lions
Park Zoo in Mitchell features fallow deer, a variety
of birds and other animals. The animals' appetites are always
good, so bring along some bread and vegetables as they enjoy
being hand fed. There’s something for everyone to do this
summer at the 21st Annual Milverton
Rodeo June 17-19 at the Milverton Agricultural
Centre, kicking off the weekend with a rodeo
parade featuring antique tractors, pick up trucks, rugged cowboys
and line dancing cowgirls. Event includes two rodeos, a dance
party and sidewalk sales. Be sure to bring the whole family
out to the Milverton
Horse Show on July 23 -
see a wonderful array of amazing horses at their "Sunday
Best", on display and judged. July
14 - 17 the Listowel
Agricultural Fair, features livestock
shows and a pet show, plus live entertainment and much more.

Listowel's Theatre
Three-Eleven boasts an extensive
art gallery showcasing the talents of area visual artists,
as well as presenting some unusual plays throughout the
season. Head to Listowel on
June 25th for the Teddy Bear Play Day. It's
a free family event celebrating play, and fun, freedom and
learning! With
its unique limestone architecture, St. Marys provides
an impressive backdrop for the Stonetown
Heritage Festival featuring live music, a classic
car show, a street dance, fireworks
and more on July
8-10. Or stop by St. Marys any time this summer for a visit
to the Canadian
Baseball Hall of Fame set
on 32 acres of parkland containing three unique baseball
fields.
On July 16 attend
the Amish
School Auction with all proceeds going to the Amish
schools. See live animals being auctioned and eat authentic
Amish food. Visit
the Perth
County Welcome Centre's Artisan
Marketplace and
meet the artists during Artisan Weekends in August.
Learn something about Perth County Heritage by visiting
the Stratford
Perth Museum or the St.
Marys Museum. Step back in time with a visit to the
Fryfogel
Tavern or the
Brocksden
Country School Museum. Come out and enjoy a weekend
of fun for the whole family at Milbank
Days August 5-7. Don’t
forget to have a meal at the famous Anna Mae's.

Come explore West
Perth's nature trails and enjoy activities
for all ages and fitness levels – cycling, walking, jogging,
dog walking, geocaching, canoeing/kayaking on the millpond,
bird watching and photography. Once a CNR line, the Grand
Trunk Trail near St.
Marys is now a community
walking path, offering breathtaking vistas from the
trestle railway
bridge. The North
Perth Community Trails connect the region’s
three wards with a 22-kilometre trail system consisting mostly
of former railway lines. Or hike the Avon
Trail which
runs through scenic farmland and meanders along small rivers
and streams. Mitchell
CornFest offers a weekend of
outdoor fun August 19-21 with a Slo-Pitch ball tournament,
pancake breakfast, soap box derby, dinner and dance, downtown
CornDaze events,
games, prizes great fun for the family! And
