Stratford Summer Music
JULY 20 TO AUGUST 16
Start with four weeks of great music. Add jazz on Friday and Saturday nights, a huge salute to rock legends, a unique audio installation and the return of an international figure in classical music. It's the ninth season of Stratford Summer Music.
Held every year, Stratford Summer Music offers a wide range of opera, jazz, marching bands, organ recitals, church choirs, innovative musical installations and world music to suit every musical taste. Stratford's churches and concert halls come alive with intimate performances by world-renowned musicians – there really is no other summer festival of its calibre in Ontario.
Past performances have included Ben Heppner and Measha Brueggergosman in recital, the Forty-Part Motet, the hot air balloons of the Sky Orchestra, Korean drummers, Ukulele Orchestras and heavenly choirs from Scotland, England and Wales.
Free concerts on the grassy slopes of the Avon and on river barges are the perfect complement to a picnic on a summer’s day. You'll want to attend the once-in-a-lifetime intimate recitals in churches and, for those night owls, midnight cabarets will keep you swinging.
