in Stratford’s Avon Theatre.
Canadian piano prodigy Jan
Lisiecki returns to
the music festival following
his critically acclaimed debut
last season. Instrumentalist Terry
McKenna is the featured performer
at the popular Music
at Rundles weekend series.
A multicultural mix of international
artists performs in BargeMusic,
the annual series of free outdoor
concerts along the Avon River.
The visit of the 25 members of
the Mzansi
Youth Choir is a highlight
of the season as Stratford
Summer
Music
welcomes these young people
from
Johannesburg for their first
visit
outside the continent of Africa.
The
streets of downtown Stratford
will be filled with the sounds
of free Random Acts
of Music by
ensembles of the National
Youth Orchestra of Canada (July
22 – 24) and the internationally
famous busker nicknamed
l’accordéoniste
automatique, Pierre
St. Pierre (August
11 – 14). The National
Youth Orchestra also performs
a full concert at Central
United Church on Sunday,
July 24.
Saturday
Night Live – Cabarets
at the Church continue
to celebrate the musical talents
of Stratford
Shakespeare Festival company
members, and other special
guests. On Friday, August 12
at The Church Restaurant
it’s a unique evening
of Juno Jazz featuring the
21 members of John
Macleod’s Rex Hotel
Orchestra and Kellylee
Evans – together
for the first time!
